The 3d scan of the lens was correct. They do not fit the frames as is. Going to need some adjustments. Lenses are a few mm's to big. Also scaling up the model is not an option as the curve is too big for my head by about an inch as is. I can heat the resin and shape it to my head better...
I think the next step is to print the digital modeled lenses. If they are an actual match then it will be easy to model in a little shelf. I'm still new at this 3d modeling thing... so learning as I go. changing the primary shape of the opening is beyond my ability though.
So doesn't look like great news on the lens fit. The lenses I got in I 3d scanned wearing some masking tape(hence the texture) It doesn't appear to be a perfect fit.. going to have to try printing off a modeled lens to put the two side by side... Or print off the eye cup to see in real life...
I started last year doing production wearables for fashion photo shoots using high end automotive paints. But the skeleton corset has this really cool black chrome finish that I love. I think I could pull it off again
I have no interest in selling them. I just wanted to make a pair to play with 3d modeling, printing and paint. I'm planning to use them for my flight sunglasses as I can't wear normal glasses under my ear cup seals. Don't want to subject a real pair to the torture of being shoved in a bag...
I'm making some progress with this. Just got some lenses in from Fuse lenses for two test pairs. Still need to scan the new lenses in and make sure they fit the digital model
Well normally I would agree ... I fought to find authentic Juliet's for a few years. But in this case, first, Oakley as we knew it is dead... And second I'm looking for functionality and the ability to beat the crap out of them in a flight bag without destroying a classic set. Oakley lost me...
Haha, that depends what the upfront payment is in that case. It will cost me a few bux to even hire a modeler.. so I don't mind paying a rental fee. But ain't $1500 interested in the project for a pair of knockoffs 😜
Just kicking around the idea. But would love to find a pair of OTTs, I will pay for them handle them with cotton gloves and send them back to their owner. I'm learning 3d scanning and printing and thinking it would be a fun project to try. I have a theory I want to test that they would be...
It's funny how life brings you back in a circle. So I'm starting to fly again after 20 years of giving up the pilot dream. And while flying sunglasses are a pain In the butt. They sit under your headset seals and let noise in and press on you head. Hence why aviators have thin arms. But I...
