Thank you for the additional information. It's clearly a design flaw, and also using plastic in this application is an issue. I guess what I'm trying to accomplish is to make a permanent repair - one that will not fail over time. I've been lucky in that I have more than one Hatchet pair and I...
Tried my idea on getting a more robust plunger fabricated, but no luck - the epoxy I used was too brittle and it broke after folding the temples literally 3 times. The little pipe that houses the spring works great... just that block part on top of it is problematic, as it has to handle loads...
I wear my Hatchets daily, I'm on a 3rd frame since 2005. On mine, the plastic pipe shears off the plastic block part of the plunger. Nose bombs and earsocks seem to wear out over time, though if you let them be (don't remove them for cleaning) and you keep the glasses in a case when not in use -...
Hatchet's weak point are the hinges... but I'm not sure if they fail because they have to deal with extra load when they are worn or when they are folded. I'm amazed no one is making any aftermarket parts for the Hatchet.
I have couple of Hatchet frames with busted hinges, and the solution for me was scavenging from older pairs... recently I have thought of a solution, that I have yet to implement, but I think it may work. I'm planning to use a used empty ball pen insert and combine it with a cast resin part to...
Has anyone tested the Zero ear socks on Hatchet to confirm that the fit is acceptable? Hatchet earsocks are a lot thinner, than the zero earsocks - so the fit may not be optimal. I believe that the Hatchet earsocks are 72mm long - are there any other options as a replacement?
I see it... thank you. I've been looking at my wife's new RX lenses and it looks to me like the outer edges are distorting the view - it's literally 5mm stripe on the outer edge, and when she's driving that makes the view feel like there is water in her eye... When I compared these lenses to...
That is strange... I just went on Oakley's website and can't even find any mention of RX for their sunglasses as an option - so maybe they are stopping to make RX sunglass lenses?
Thank you for the additional insight. We have not been lucky with this pair. First we were told by Oakley that Black Iridium VR28 lenses are not available, and that a close replacement is a Black Iridium Prizm lens, only to receive some pink lenses with pink mirror finish, and then we were...
My wife is having the same exact issue on her new Oakley RX Straightlink sunglasses, we have never had this problem before in the 7 sets of RX sunglasses, though my wife's prescription is stronger than mine, but even she never had this issue in the last 2 pairs... Her new pair is causing...
I have recently discovered that Oakley will no longer fit RX lenses into Oakley frames as old as my Hatchets, and that they no longer offer Gold Iridium lenses for prescription. I've been pretty upset about it, but then I saw on this forum that lenses can be cut from larger ones. Well I have...
Thank you very much for the link. I thought that my Racing Jackets were pretty much the same as the ones that are currently on Oakley's site. And even when I went to the RX Sun section of the site and selected cycling they have a Racing Jacket shown as an example for progressive lenses Oakley
