Not really. If ur bald like me, cap serves to protect the skin on your head from getting sun burned.

A hat brim will help prevent light leakage...

Functionally I can see issues wearing certain hats and certain frames because there's simply not enough room for both. Plus honestly a hat can take AWAY from a frame visually. But stylistically...really depends on the man and what his wardrobe etc. is even casually-- and some are well served by hiding their features as much as possible (which hats do) and some are not.

Personally I don't wear them even though with a shaved head they can serve to protect that- I just keep sunblock handy.

It's not your grandpa's sunshine anymore, and hats are a necessity now.
I hate 'em, look goofy in 'em, and lose them like hair follicles.
    But i wear them.

Function over fashion. If it was the other way around, we'd wear some other brand that I can't name because I don't wear them.

I'm not saying fashion doesn't apply, just that there's plenty of high-fashion sunnies that don't perform as well functionally.

I don't think it's overkill. I'm not really into hats, but I will rock both if I can coordinate properly lol
