Oakley Watch Battery Guide

like most water proof watches I'm sure the back just twist off. I was trying to find out if the case tool online would work?
Oakley Watch Case Tool (to replace battery) by sharplines on Shapeways
His description states:
"I have only used the tool on the Oakley Judge. One way to check if it fits your Crush is to measure the square depressions on the back cover. If there are 6 of them and they have a 32mm ID and 34mm OD you're set. "
It is a pretty cool idea, I'll have to do some measuring on my watches later to see if it will fit a variety or just the Judge. I suspect (hope) that there is some sort of standardization of O watch backs.

Thanks guy. Completely read that. Was hoping some of the other o watch enthusiast could chime in on their experiences if any on changing a battery and what tool they used.

I haven't changed a 12 Gauge specifically but I have changed batteries on watches with similar case backs.

IMO, the tool from sharplines on shapeways is very, uh, creative? Some dude came up with a design and 3D printed it out of metal; it probably works but just for that model or one exactly like it, definitely non-standard.

But the tool carguy posted, that is the standard tool for that class of case back. I have one and it works great; you can adjust the claws to fit a variety of case back sizes, and there are different tips to fit different designs of notches. If you're gonna buy something buy one of those because it'll be much more versatile and is a proven design.

But I think your best course of action is to take it to a good watch shop. The difference? They should check your gaskets and pressure test it after changing the battery, which I doubt most have the capability to do at home... It would suck to try to save money DIY then ruin the watch because its water resistance was compromised...

I concur

FWIW... :
12 Ga 6 x 30mm ID 34mm OD
Hollow Point 6 x 33ID 36OD
Double Tap 6 x 38ID 40OD
GMT 6 x 30ID 31OD (tight)
Warrant - Screws
MM - Screws

IMHO adjustability is best unless you own only those particular dimensions.

Hi all, I have made some changes to the list & add some missing ones ( In red ).
Oakley state Fusebox as - 395 battery. I checked the movement tech sheet and states 399 see link below ( if the movement has an alarm the battery will most likely be W - not a SW ) W's are for watch with alarms as they draw more from the circuit )
This is the first forum I have joined so I am still trying to work out how it works. If I stuff up please let me know.

Hope this make sense as my spelling is not my strong point......

Hope this helps.

That's a very good post, especially for being such an early one. Welcome.

As guidance, not a criticism, your post here is sufficient, especially since this is a sticky thread. No need to make a new thread with a duplicate post.

:welcome:, and keep up the good work! :drinks:
