Picked up Matte Black/Black Iridium 256mb Thumps for £20

Needs new battery but I should be able to sort that. First low battery warning noise after 8 mins use from full charge, second at 12mins and they shut down after 22mins.

Now the Oakley site says
  • Store up to 120 songs on the 512 MB version or up to 60 songs on the 256 MB version

I can only get an album or so on them, I've currently got The Prodigy's Fat of the Land on them as I hadn't heard it for a while so dragged it over to test them.

What is the best format/bitrate to use for space?

Thanks
Si.

These days where space isn't an issue with cheap large hard drives then albums are ripped at 320k but as you say you wont fit much on 256mb. I used to rip my cd's to 128k mp3's when space was an issue and things still sounded pretty decent. I found any less than this and sound quality was an issue.

Thanks can get so much more music on them in WMA, just need to fit a new battery as they last minutes.
