I think Frank is right. It wouldn't hurt to buy it and if it's not what you expect, return it. Try calling customer service and see if they'll verify if those online are serialized.

I see it this way. $300 for a serialized. Can't possibly be $300 for a NON serialized.

Notice it's the 2014 metal works carabiner...

So next year they can produce another 500 as the 2015 metal works carabiner...

Which will look exactly the same, except for the year referenced in the paperwork...

And the twist biner lock will be red.

Here's an idea. Have someone check the sku of the one bought in store versus the online item. That should solve it right there I think.
