I've come across the Fruby lens a lot lately and I'm not entirely sure what people are talking about. I have first gen Juliet's with fire lens, but the fire lenses I've seen floating around don't really look like the ones I have. Mine actually look more like a ruby. Did they change the fire lens at some point and take out the hint of red in them, hence the Fruby term?

Opposite. The ruby has more fire in it

So are early fire lenses different than the later versions?

Batches have always varied. Some fire look almost like 24k, some like rubies and others like, well, fire.

The "fruby" term is because, over time, rubies have tended to have more yellow and orange in them and look more like fire. Some batches are better than others.

Fruby refers to Ruby that looks like Fire, not Fire that looks like Ruby.

Neither fire nor ruby nor oo red nor + red. Otherwise, with maybe the exception of some special editions, they tend to be pretty consistent.

Do you want neutral or contrast is the main question there, rather than what the lens coatings look like.

And fire is grey base tint while ruby is blue.
