I thought that as well initially, but further research showed that all oakley beams which were originally purchased straight from beams in japan, were tagged like that

you are right. the japan exclusives are tagged in that way recently. not only the Beams, but the Be@rbricks as well.

I always thought it weird that the japan only releases were tagged, but those are definitely authentic!
