Ebay is definitely a crapshoot and paypal is very unreliable about getting refunds for fraud. Especially if the seller has cleaned his cash from the account. I always pay through paypal for the little added "protection they provide but I always paywith my Amex card as well. I've had a few of these types of transactions (most recently a couple weeks ago) and I now completely bypass paypal and let Amex handle the refunds. They are awesome at getting these resolved in my favor. I am in a dispute right now and I am confident about getting my full money back. Makes taking chances on ebay a little easier to do. my $.02
