wear a pair often...keep one in your car often. Hold one Often... you get the picture.
It has helped me control the X-metal bug.. but not to the point of having 5 R1's, 2 R2's ...bunch of loose pair Juliets, 2 Penny's and 5 XX's
I hope you find closure. And have an iron will. Only that 1 variable counts mainly because if your in X-metal hunts; you have put $ as not a param to hold you back. Though prices are back to acceptable ranges.
