Titanium oxide is renowned for its whiteness though. Could still be one of the other components of the alloy causing it by oxidation but it's not the Ti.
Oxidation on titanium and titanium oxide are two different things.

InfiniteHeros anodizing and all those colors, that's oxidation.

Oxidation has (at least) two different meanings - in the electron loss sense, agreed, it won't produce the dioxide but in the gaining oxygen sense, TiO2 is the product.
 
true, but i think its fairly obvious what I was talking about in my post.
Could be my bad - I did both Chemistry and Physics through to A-level, but vastly preferred Chemistry of the two so I somewhat gravitate to the oxygen gain definition :)
