The hinge scratch is very common due to the design of the hinge mechanism and non-durable finish. The orbital scratch is definitely poor workmanship if the unit came from a sealed box. Most likely mishandled as part of lens installation.

I believe the scratches on the inside of the hinge are unavoidable (i've seen about 10 in person, and each had them) because of the hinge mechanism, but orbital scratches like that are inexcusable for a new pair.

True, my badman already has the scratch on the inside of the hinge and I've only used it twice. Disappointing but I guess we have accept that present x metals are of low quality material despite price range..

Mine was brand new, sealed in box as well and I also have the same scratches on orbital scratch.....

Also the hinge scratches too - unavoidable
