New guy needs some help with lingo

Hey, everyone. I am a high school teacher, so not completely dumb, nor afraid to ask obvious (to some) questions.

In the exchange area, I see "PM" a lot. What does that stand for?
I also saw "POM" on another forum site.
I guess I am asking if anyone has a quick guide for common colloquial shorthand lingo on this forum and possibly forums like this.

If anyone needs help with percussion terms or theology - I got your back.
