Found it; I had searched the sunglasses discussion forum but it was in the DIY forum. Looks like the pair in the OP of this thread is a different pair, a little better done than the other one, but also from Germany so chances are they're from the same guy...

I’m gonna do that to a pair of mine but I think painting the base frame black would make the gold pop more. I’m thinking a flat black would look best. Any thoughts?
