Overpriced?

My wife recently bid on an Oakley display case as a b-day gift for me but was outbid. I'm kinda glad because I thought it was going for way more than it was worth, being so small. The winning bid was $535 (+$25 shipping). The dimensions are only 32"w x 8.25"d x 9.75"h.

Am I right, was this overpriced? Or is this size/shape rare enough to be worth the price? It's the only one I've seen with those dimensions.

This is a hard to find case, but I would not spend $500+ on it.
I was watching it as it started pretty low.

Unless you were looking for this type of counter top, I think that's way too much. Not one that comes up often though.

That's what is referred to as a Shotgun display case and they don't come up for sale very often. They usually always go for over $500. It is somewhat rare.

It's not a countertop display, it is made to be mounted on a wall.

Thanks - my wife sniped in a bid of $525 but it wasn't enough to beat the high bidder's max bid; she's wondered how high the winner's max bid really was, what it would have taken to win...

I think the price was fair for what it was, hard to find case.

Yep Dave Ferr always has some cool stuff. I've seen these before and they do go for over $500 but as opined you can buy a whole display like a doublewide for that money.
At the end of the day whoever wanted it the most put his value on it.
