Alright guys I just got a polished black flak for a steal but I want to change it to matte black. So point me in the right direction here. Should I just paint it matte black? Or... Remove the polished finish on it? What's gonna be the easiest? Oh and I don't have access to any crazy tools like you guys have. Thanks guys!

Maybe just buff them lightly with a very fine grit sanding sponge. That would take the shine / polish off and should leave the color intact. Either way you would have to sand very lightly to paint with a matte finish anyway

Even using fine 2500+ sand paper/sponge will leave lines and not reach everywhere. If you use a light media blast the results will be much better. The other thing is use can use a sealed media rubber tumbler put the parts in there with light media and water and let it go for a few hours.
