Question about replacement lenses

I just received my first pair of Oakley Flak Jackets along with an additional set of lenses. I had some difficulty getting the other set of lenses installed and now there is a small chip in the nosepiece along the groove the lens fits into. Is this normal wear and tear or could this have been avoided? I'm attaching a picture to show what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance.

You can "bend" the frame a little while putting the replacement lenses in. This would avoid the teeth/notches of the lens coming into contact with the frame. I think those marks came from the teeth of the lenses rubbing on the frame. I could be wrong. I'm sure others can chime in. :D

On my Flaks, I can bend them quite a bit to get the lens.in with no issues.
Maybe as they get older, they become stiffer but so far nothing. My oldest FJ is about 7 years old now.
