the year for Romeo 1 is 1997 while for the R2 is 1998

But my Romeo 2 coin does indeed state 1998 and my R1 coin, 1997.

two coins with two dates, I have a later gen romeo and R2 that both have 1998 coins, while my first gen r1s (box with colored pic and hand written serial) and of course jordans have the 1997.

I wonder which of the two coins are rarer?
