Hey guys.

I bought a 70 inch Sharp Aquos Smart tv 3d 240 hz for $2800 in Feb 13 from hh gregg.

I financed it on my hh gregg card.

I didn't buy an extended warranty.

It's been on my wall in my man cave ever since (16 months) and it has developed a 6 inch wide black vertical bar down the middle of the screen.

Sharp has been no help and I finally had them "put me up for review" to see if that might help me. They may....MAY....pro rate another unit for me.

The tv repair guy came out and said I have a bad led panel...basically too expensive to even fix.

Here I sit, 2800 dollar tv that I owe 1500 on still and it's basically junk.

It's 4 months out of sharps 12 month warranty.

Anyone have any ideas. .am i missing something?

I don't know much about fixing TVs but I know when it comes to that size LED TV if you are out of warranty they won't want to help you for nothing.

I hate to say it but I think you are screwed on this one. :(

I hope I'm wrong and someone else can chime in here.

Check your credit card. Some of them offer an extension to any manufacturer warranty.
I know he said he financed it on his hh gregg at hh gregg. I don't know what store that is unfortunately but maybe he could hit the store with this problem since it was also their card and he bought it there? Try to work something out?

Oh ....by the way.....I like the way you have "Fox News" on the TV when you took the picture and not something like.....PORN. :p

This. I would hit the credit card and the store both you bought it from as the manufacturer is usually last resort and often the hardest to get results from for defects when it comes to most things.
Hh gregg is like a circuit city. There warranty is for 30 days. They kicked me to sharp. Sharp says 12 months..sorry.
I just can't beleive that with something that costs this much money that they wouldn't want me happy being it's 4 months over the warranty.
12 months on a 3000 dollar tv..unreal.
I've got walmart vizios in the house for almost a decade and never had a problem in the world...I step up to supposedly one of the best and I've got a 3k pile of junk. I literally will have to throw this thing in the trash.

I'm sick over this.

damn, i am in the market for a new tv myself and i should say, that just plain sucks. not to further disappoint you, but my wife's brother-in-laws (2 of them) have the same black line on their samsung 42" led tvs and they simply had no choice but to replace....

did the black line just suddenly show up or did it start like a thin line first that later got thicker as time went by?

i am a "techie phobe" in always thinking that the gadgets nowadays are getting more flimsy. and so far, i am more convinced that i am right....
