what is the difference between v28 blue iridium and blue iridium?
both say 15% light transmission and vr28 base.
Blue iridium looks less brown/red on the oakley lens simulation page.

    thanks

One is vr (brown)base and one is grey base.

in that case, is the oakley website (and lens guide chart) incorrect in saying blue iridium uses a vr28 based lens?

No. The color has changed since its original inception.

The early 80's/90's blue was a brilliant blue iridium over a grey base, and it had a subtle amber hue in spots. Think ice, but not as dark.

Today's blue is a blue coating over VR28.

VR28 Blue Iridium was available only for a short time, I believe between the two offerings. It is now called "Blue Iridium" but is essentially the same as VR28 Blue Iridium.

Rustpot is correct. I have current Blue Iridium and VR28 Blue Iridium lenses and they are identical, or at least 95% the same. The only frame that still uses the old Grey based lens for Blue Iridium is Frogskins, I believe.

rustpot / nights - thanks very much.
Its interesting as if you use the oakley lens simulator (website) the view with vr28 blue is much more brown/red tinted.

How different if the view thru VR28 blue versus normal Vr28? Im going to get a pair for my jawbones and am trying to decide for a medium light lens .. e.g. i have black iridium for sunny and persimmon for winter/low light.

I'll get some pics tonight hopefully. Blue is just a touch darker than VR28, the base color should be identical.

    Hoping to revive this topic.
I have compared a normal VR28 lens (jawbone lens) to VR28 blue iridium (current fast jacket lens)
The VR28 blue is slightly more amber than the VR28 which is slighty more rose/brown.
In looking thru , they seem about equal in darkness and I would not believe that one is 28% light and the other 15%.
Have you guys noticed this as well?

It's the iridium coating that'll change the tint a little bit...

    thanks lex,
i do find it strange the vr28 blue is really not darker than the normal vr28.
anyone here compare the lens side by side?
