The assumption that there was a pair made for every available serial number is a questionable premise.

Because they were the among the first X-metals to get discontinued. Oakley felt like there was a design flaw due to the stress fracture. ~ In 2004, Oakley started a soft recall by having the "exchange program". This covered sending any Romeo back whether new, old, broken or sealed. Then you get another X-metal of choice with similar pricing as the Romeo or lower back. Original receipt was unnecessary so anyone who can acquire a Romeo for dirt cheap can exchange it for a brand new juliet or sometimes a XX. With all that said, there are "less" Romeos floating around, hence making it sound like there's a shortage when really nobody cared much about it even going back in 1997.
