On my Carbons (OCP frame, built at the Vault) the left earstem doesn't touch the orbitals but the right one will as long as the left one isn't closed already. Also mine doesn't have a visible SKU on the arms but I believe they are stamped or marked under one of the earsocks. The way the arms close must be a design feature, I really don't see it being a QC problem.

earsems touching orbitals is 'normal'. i found hammerstems are abit better in this regard - all of my hammers dont touch the orbital. Now, your Juliets are LEGIT. take it from us. =)
