Oakley Line Miner Goggles | Ski & Snow Review

Since its launch in 2016, Oakley Line Miner Goggles have been one of the top selling Snow goggles from Oakley. With a focus on peripheral vision and a perfect fit, we were excited to take the Line Miner out for a day on the slopes.

Keep reading for our full Oakley Line Miner review, plus a complete size comparison so you can find the right fit before you buy.

Oakley Line Miner Goggles Review

For our review, we tried a pair of Line Miner M goggles in Matte Black with Prizm Snow Rose lenses. This was also our first time trying this lens, you can read our full Oakley Prizm Snow Rose Lens review here.

Frame and Design

At first glance, you’ll notice the Line Miner has a full-rimmed frame design with a chassis made of flexible O Matter material.

The original Line Miner was designed to provide maximum peripheral vision thanks to its cylindrical-style design. And the latest Line Miner lineup takes this to the next level.

When we first put these goggles on we noticed how snug the fit was (in a good way). But thanks to the low profile design of the Line Miner they still fit perfectly with most helmets.

Overall the design itself is fairly standard looking when it comes to ski goggles, but the features in this frame definitely take it up a notch.

Key Features

  • Wide 40mm adjustable strap with silicone lining
  • Flexible O Matter frame material for a perfect fit even in freezing cold
  • Triple-layer face foam with moisture wicking fleece for all-day comfort
  • Optically correct Dual Lens with F3 Anti-fog coating
  • Prescription eyewear and helmet compatibility
  • Available with Prizm Lenses (optional iridium coating for some colors)

Prescription Eyewear Compatibility

One of the most underrated features of the Line Miner is its prescription eyewear computability. These goggles feature discreet frame notches on the inside at the temples designed to provide more compatibility with prescription eyeglasses.

We tried our Line Miner with a pair of eyeglasses we had around and noticed they fit pretty well in the goggles.

We’d still prefer contacts / no glasses any day, but if you have to wear eyeglasses in your goggles, this is definitely an improvement!

Strap, Face Foam and Comfort

Where the Line Miner really surprised us was its comfort, thanks to a slew of features. The biggest enhancement on these goggles being the triple-layer foam and moisture wicking polar fleece lining.

It’s likely because of the Line Miner’s snug fit that we really noticed the foam, but overall we found it comfortable all day despite getting a bit sweaty after a few runs.

These goggles also feature a wide 40mm strap that helps to distribute the pressure across your head, providing a more comfortable fit even when tight.

Overall, we found the Line Miner to be one of the most comfortable Oakley goggles we’ve ever worn.

Prizm Lens Technology

The goggles we reviewed featured Prizm Snow Rose lenses, which we had a great time with on an overcast day thanks to their 26% VLT. You can read our full Prizm Snow Rose lens review here for more.

But depending on your preference, Oakley has you covered with a full lineup of Prizm lenses available in the Line Miner from Prizm Sapphire Iridium to Prizm Clear.

Plus the Line Miner’s lenses feature High Definition Optics (HDO) and are made of impact-resistant Plutonite lens material that provides 100% protection for UVA, UVB, and UVC rays, plus harmful blue light up to 400nm.

Small (Youth Fit), Medium (XM) & Large (XL) Line Miner Size Comparison

Originally released as a large frame, the Line Miner is now available in a full lineup of sizes. But over the years Oakley has changed their sizing and naming so you may see both available depending on the store.

For reference you can find the quick size listing and translation between previous lineups below:

  • Youth Fit (Previously known as Line Miner Small)
  • Medium (Previously known as Line Miner XM)
  • Large (Previously known as Line Miner XL)

For our review, we tried a pair of Oakley Line Miner XM’s or Medium fit and found them perfect for us. But if you have a larger head, you’ll likely want to opt for the Line Miner L (or Large) fit.

To summarize, each size increases 15-20% from the level before. This means the Line Miner L is about 15-20% larger than the Line Miner M. And the Line Miner L is about 30-40% larger than the Youth Fit.

Final Thoughts – Our Review and Recommendation

The Oakley Line Miner is one of the most comfortable goggles we’ve worn even during all-day snow sessions.

But most of all, we found these goggles to have unparalleled peripheral vision. At times we almost forgot we were wearing goggles because we didn’t have the usual blind spots in our field of view.

Overall, we’d recommend the Line Miner for anyone looking for a classic, comfortable pair of goggles that can easily be worn all day.

Line Miner vs. Flight Deck Goggles

We recently reviewed the Oakley Flight Deck goggles, so we wanted to pit these two frames head to head and highlight the key differences.

First, and the biggest difference between the Line Miner and Flight Deck is design. The Line Miner features a classic full-rim goggle design, while the Flight Deck features a more modern and aggressive, rimless design.

Overall, we loved the Line Miner for its emphasis on comfort and peripheral vision. In comparison, the Flight Deck really shined with its design and easy-to-change lenses thanks to Ridgelock technology.

Are Replacement Line Miner Lenses Available?

Yes, replacement Line Miner lenses are available directly through Oakley starting at $50 (Product Link).

The full lineup of Prizm Snow lenses are available as replacement lenses, plus some non-Prizm options like Dark Grey and Clear. But we’d still recommend opting for Prizm Clear or Prizm Black over those options for maximum contrast-enhancing and glare reduction.

Where to Buy Oakley Line Miner Goggles?

You can buy Oakley Line Miner goggles directly from Oakley (Product Link) or through your local ski/snow shop. But if you’re looking to save you’ll want to have a little bit of patience.

That’s because you can typically save 20-30% off retail prices by waiting for an Oakley sale. To find out when the next season sale is, check out our full Oakley sales guide.
