What is Prizm Bronze?

Prizm Bronze is an Oakley Prizm “Everyday” lens with a bronze base color designed to enhanced contrast and color in day-to-day life. Compare this to Prizm sports lenses that are tuned for specific activities and sports. We’ve highlighted the main features of Prizm Bronze below.

Prizm Bronze Highlights

  • 17% Visual light transmission ideal for bright light conditions
  • Enhance colors making the environment appear more vibrant
  • Enhance contrast and increase detail for a richer experience
  • Bronze base lens that gives a warmer appearance to the world around you

Oakley Prizm Bronze Review – Are they Worth it?

We reviewed a pair of Oakley Gibston sunglasses in Polished Rootbeer with Prizm Bronze lenses (Product Link). While Oakley previously offered this lens in several frames, including the Sutro, they’ve recently scaled it back.

Currently Prizm Bronze is only available in 4 frames: Sylas, Gibston, Top-Knot, and Holbrook.

After first putting them on we noticed how the Bronze lens gives a warm appearance to everything around you. It’s definitely not overwhelming, but the brown/bronze base lens definitely stands out.

We’d say this is a bit lighter than Prizm Tungsten that we recently reviewed. But overall the lens was plenty dark for us.

The contrast-enhancing from the Prizm side of this lens was also noticeable. It didn’t seem as obvious compared to some of the sports lenses like Prizm Golf, but still more than enough for everyday life.

Overall, we liked Prizm Bronze and would recommend it if you enjoy brown base coats/tints. If you don’t we’d recommend going with another Everyday lens like Prizm Ruby that is a bit more versatile in our opinion.

Prizm Bronze vs. Tungsten – What’s the difference?

As we mentioned earlier, Oakley currently offers two Everyday Brown lenses – Prizm Bronze and Prizm Tungsten. These two lenses are definitely similar but there are some key differences.

Both lenses have a Bronze base tint which gives them their distinct brown color. But Prizm Tungsten is actually darker with a VLT of 14% compared to Bronze’s 17% tint.

Plus Tungsten is available in both polarized and non-polarized options compared to Bronze’s non-polarized option.

In my opinion it’s very similar to tungsten but just a little bit lighter and the lack of iridium.

also comes in the Sutro :p

Did some hunting around today and it's not in stores. This lens will intrigue me I guess. I really do hope it's similar to the legacy Tungsten Iridium rather than the Prizm TI

Just saw this in my research on this "new" prizm addition. Looks like what is in Prizm Baseball Infield to me.
