Oakley Prizm Jade Lens Review & Guide

Oakley Prizm lenses changed sports with their contrast-enhancing and color optimizing technology. And after several years of success, they doubled down with their Everyday Prizm collection including Oakley Prizm Jade.

These Everyday lenses are built to optimize your vision and the environment around you when you’re driving, walking, or just going about your day.

Keep reading for everything to know about this Prizm lens. Plus our full Oakley Prizm Jade review.

What is Oakley Prizm Jade?

Oakley Prizm Jade is part of the Prizm Everyday collection designed for daily wear, with contrast and color enhancing technology.

Prizm Jade doesn’t have the type of intense color-specific enhancement of some of the sport-specific Prizm lenses. Instead, colors are natural and vibrant when viewed through the lens. And the enhanced contrast is not overwhelming for street wear.

You can find the main features of this lens below.

Prizm Jade Everyday Benefits

  • 14% visible light transmission (VLT)
  • Grey base color that’s great for everyday wear
  • Enhances color, contrast, and detail
  • Made of impact resistant Plutonite material that blocks 100% of harmful UV rays

What Color is Oakley Prizm Jade?

Oakley Prizm Jade lenses appear as a vibrant green color when looking at them from the outside.

Prizm Everyday lenses come in two different base colors, grey and bronze. The base color determines the inside color of the lens and how the world appears when you look through the lens.

A bronze base color gives a warm appearance when wearing them. These everyday lenses include Prizm Bronze, Tungsten, Ruby, 24K, and Rose Gold.

On the other hand, a grey base color gives enhanced colors a more natural appearance. Grey-based Prizm lenses include Prizm Grey, Black, Sapphire, Violet, and Prizm Jade.

Overall, Prizm Jade gives vibrant, natural colors and increased detail. From the inside, it looks neutral/grey. From the outside, it’s green, as the name implies.

Are Prizm Jade Lenses Polarized?

Prizm Jade Everyday lenses are available in polarized and non-polarized options. But you’ll want to be careful when you’re buying Oakleys.

Not every Prizm Jade lens is polarized, you’ll specifically see Prizm Jade Polarized listed for that variation.

Prizm lenses already tackle one of the major reasons people like polarized lenses—glare. If you find polarization distracting or that it affects your depth perception, give regular Prizm lenses a try and see if they provide enough glare protection for you without polarization.

But if you’re looking for additional glare protection, Oakley Prizm Jade Polarized lenses are your best bet.

You can read more on how Polarized lenses work in our full Polarized Lens Guide.

Is Prizm Jade Mirrored?

Yes, Prizm Jade comes with an iridium coating that provides a mirrored appearance to your lenses.

This means when someone is looking directly at your sunglasses, they won’t be able to see your eyes behind the lenses.

Oakley Prizm Jade Lens Review

We reviewed a pair of Oakley Holbrooks with Prizm Jade lenses for a week of running around, walking, and driving.

After putting on this lens, you definitely notice the 13% VLT is plenty dark but not overpowering. It doesn’t feel as dark as a Black Iridium Polarized, because of the Prizm technology that helps to optimize colors.

And similar to other Prizm lenses we’ve reviewed, the contrast-enhancing in Prizm Jade is definitely noticeable.

We’d say we noticed it a bit more when we reviewed sport-specific lenses like Prizm Road, but that may also be because those lenses are tuned for specific environments.

Are They Worth It?

We’d recommend Prizm Jade as an everyday lens for anyone wanting a Prizm lens with a green lens appearance.

Since many of the Everyday Prizm lenses share either a grey or brown tint, the contrast and color enhancing will be similar across the range.

That means the personal preference will really come down to appearance. But it’s still useful to try on Prizm lenses if you can since you’ll notice slight differences between lenses like Prizm Jade and Sapphire. Even though they share the same grey base tint.

I like the aesthetics of the Prizm Jade. I got the polarized in Sylas frames. the Sylas tortoise shell frame is fantastic.

The lens itself is fine, but slightly darker than what I was expecting. I would recommend in this VLT range the Tungsten polarized, the colors are far more vibrant in my opinion. I live on a tropical island, and the palm trees against the sky is amazing in Tungsten.
