Table of Contents
How to find the size of your Oakleys?
On most modern Oakleys, you can simply look on the inside of the earstems to find the dimensions of your frame. You’ll typically see 3 numbers separated by a small O icon. The first number is your lens width, followed by the bridge width (nose piece), and finally, the earstems or temple length.
You may also find that a long string of numbers starting with “OO” precedes the dimensions. This is your Oakley SKU or model number. Check out the image below for an example of this on Dispatch II sunglasses.
Oakley also offers various sizes and fits of sunglasses. First, we’ll review the common terms used and then our top picks in each category.

What are Oakley ‘XS’ Sunglasses?
Oakley ‘XS’ indicates a small Oakley frame. Typically Oakley will use popular frames and create an ‘XS’ version by scaling down the dimensions. This means that all XS frames are great for small and narrow heads.
We’ll highlight some of our favorite small Oakleys below but be sure to check out our complete list of the best Oakleys for small heads linked above.
What are Oakley ‘XL’ Sunglasses?
Opposite to ‘XS’ frames, Oakley ‘XL’ indicates a large pair of Oakley sunglasses. Similar to ‘XS’, Oakley typically increases the dimensions of popular frames (like the Holbrook) for these sunglasses. This means Oakley XL sunglasses are great for large and wide heads! Check out the image below which compares the Oakley Sliver XL vs. the standard version.
How Does Oakley Determine the Sizes on Their Website?
Oakley recently introduced sizing on their website, located under the “Product Info” section of each model (pictured below). These sizes are based primarily on the width of each frame.
For example, Oakley classifies the popular Gascan model as a ‘Small’ frame, while we’d say this is more of a medium frame that can look great on most faces.
Based on our research, Oakley classifies sizes based on the below ranges:
- X-Small (XS): 121mm-124mm
- Small: 125mm-128mm
- Medium: 129mm-133mm
- Large: 133mm-136mm
- X-Large (XL): 137mm-140mm
- XX-Large (XXL): 141mm-145mm
While we agree frame width is an important metric, you should also consider the height and earstem length of Oakleys before buying.
We also found several discrepancies on Oakley’s site, including listing Frogskins XS sunglasses as an “XL” Size.
What is Oakley ‘Low Bridge’ or ‘Asian Fit’?
Oakley Low Bridge Fit (Otherwise known as Asian fit or Asia fit by its previous name) indicates a pair of Oakleys specifically tailored for flatter faces with higher cheekbones. This fit is meant to solve issues many Asians have with properly fitting sunglasses.
Many of the Asian Fit sunglasses feature taller and larger nosepads to fit the sunglasses properly on flatter faces. This also helps to raise them away from higher cheekbones. For more, check out our complete guide on the science behind Oakley Low Bridge Fit.
What is Oakley ‘Standard Fit’ or ‘High Bridge Fit’?
Oakley Standard Fit refers to the normal fit you’d find when buying Oakleys. Generally, this isn’t denoted anywhere specifically. But instead, it’s meant to give a reference point when comparing Oakleys to the Asian fit, XL, or XS models. While the Oakley Standard Fit (sometimes also called High Bridge Fit) generally is found in medium-size frames, there are still both smaller (like the Fives Squared) and larger frames (like the Sutro) in this category. You’ll definitely want to check the measurements on the pair before you buy.
