Revant Optics Lenses | Review & Ordering Experience

Revant Optics Lenses have become one of the biggest Oakley aftermarket lens suppliers. And with a selection including our favorite frames, we wanted to try out Revant lenses and see how they stand up to the test.

Keep reading for our full Revant Optics Lenses review. Plus, how they compare to original Oakley lenses.

Now let’s get started.

Who is Revant Optics?

Revant Optics is an aftermarket lens supplier based in Oregon, USA. The company was originally founded in 2010 when CEO Jason Bolt crashed while mountain biking and broke his lenses.

Shortly after, he started the company to offer an alternative to expensive lenses.

Today they offer replacement lenses for a variety of sunglasses, including Oakley, Ray-Ban, Costa, Maui Jim, and more. Plus, now they even offer prescription lenses!

Now let’s see how Revant Optics lenses perform!

Revant Optics Lenses Review

For our review, we tried a pair of Revant Optics Elite Polarized lenses for our Oakley Frogskins. And they definitely surprised us.

Ordering and Revant Optics Elite Polarized Lenses

To order, we went directly to Revant Optics website. And once there, we easily navigated to the main menu and selected Oakley.

Currently, Revant offers replacement lenses for 300+ Oakley frames.

Once we selected Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, we could see the 20 lens colors offered for the frame. We ended up ordering Revant Elite Polarized in Titanium Mirrorshield.

Revant Elite Polarized lenses offer additional glare protection with increased clarity. It appears this is Revant’s take on Oakley’s popular Prizm lens technology.

And we were definitely excited for these lenses to arrive!

Initial Impressions and Unboxing

Our Revant Lenses arrived in 4 business days via USPS shipping. The box they came in was unmarked, but we were greeted with the Revant lens boxes once we opened them.

As seen below, each set of lenses comes in a Revant microfiber bag and is packed in plastic.

The bag is slightly larger than the microfiber bag Oakley’s lenses come in and could probably be used for a pair of sunglasses if needed.

And getting our first look at Revant’s Titanium lenses, they definitely have a great color. I’d describe it as a mix between Black Iridium and Chrome Iridium.

Overall I like the look of these lenses. But keep reading as we install the lenses and compare them to Oakley replacement lenses.

Installing Revant Lenses

Next up was installing our Revant lenses into the frame. Overall, the installation was easy using a friction-fit frame.

To install, I simply applied pressure and was able to remove the existing lenses. And our Revant Optics lenses popped right into the frame without any issue.

If you’re nervous about installing your lenses, check out our How to Change Oakley Lenses guide.

For us, the process of installing our pair of lenses was easy and simple.

Revant Lenses vs. Oakley Lenses

Frogskins have been my everyday pair for the last 2+ years. And all of that wear took its toll. My original lenses were scratched and nicked, so these new lenses were definitely welcomed!

Comparing Revant lenses to our OEM Oakley lenses, they are the same exact size. This makes sense since Revant measures original lenses and frames to cut their lenses.

And this extends to how durable the lenses are too. Similar to Oakleys, Revant lenses meet ANSI Z80.3 impact resistance standards.

But the biggest difference I noticed with my Revant lenses was the tint. The Revant lenses seemed significantly darker than my Oakley Black Iridium lenses. In addition, the iridium coating seemed much brighter compared to standard Oakley lenses.

I try only to wear Iridium lenses since being able to see eyes through sunglasses seems odd to me.

I believe partly that my Frogskins coating had begun to peel off. Still, I do think that the Iridium coating on these lenses seemed stronger and more comparable to Chrome Iridium lenses, which are very mirrored.

The other big differences between these lenses are the technology and coatings.

Since Oakley owns the patents for their lens technology, you won’t find it in any aftermarket lenses. This includes Prizm lens technology, High Definition Optics (HDO), and Iridium coatings.

But Revant offers very similar technologies in their lenses, including MirrorShield (Iridium) and Elite Lenses (High Definition Optics & Prizm).

So are they worth it? Let’s dig in.

Final Thoughts – Are Revant Lenses Worth It?

These lenses definitely surprised us. We’ve been set on wearing only original Oakley lenses in the past. Even when these lenses cost up to $100 per pair for Black Iridium Polarized lenses!

Overall, these lenses delivered on everything Revant promised and are definitely worth it. They are high quality, durable, and offer great clarity, all for half the price of Oakley lenses.

We’d recommend Revant replacement lenses for anyone looking for high-quality but affordable replacement lenses.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Revant Lenses Made Of?

Revant lenses are made of impact-resistant Polycarbonate lens material. And all of their lenses offer 100% protection against UVA, UVB, and UVC rays.

Polycarbonate lenses are made of a unique plastic that is more impact-resistant and thinner than standard plastic lenses.

Are Revant Lenses Real?

Revant lenses manufacturers all of their own lenses. This means Oakley does not make them. But that doesn’t mean they’re fake.

Aftermarket lens manufacturers make lenses that offer a more affordable alternative to Oakley lenses. But be careful since quality differs by company. Check out the Best Oakley Replacement Lenses to compare your options.

Do Revant Lenses Meet ANSI Impact Resistance Standards?

Yes, Revant Lenses meet the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z80.3 impact resistance standard. This means they’ve been tested against strict guidelines for protection.

But it’s important to note that these lenses do not meet ANSI Z87.1, the standard for safety glasses. For most buyers, Z80.3 protection is fine. But if you’re looking for OSHA approved safety glasses, you’ll need Z87.1 lenses.

What Coatings Does Revant Offer?

Revant lenses feature scratch-resistant and anti-reflective coatings. Plus, they’re available with Mirrorshield coatings that are similar to Iridium lenses.

These coatings and premium features mean your lenses can go from the trail to the street while offering maximum protection.

I have a pair of Revant Elite lenses, and they are very nice! They fit perfectly and are good quality.

I can also recommend the Revant Elite lenses, which are now available with mirrorshield (iridium), but I cannot speak for the basic Revant lenses.

Has anyone actually done a professional optics test on these things yet? IMO these subjective "I tried a pair and liked them" endorsements have zero value.
You act like that claim has blown up in someone's face before or something. Get out of here with your "science" and "laboratories". Nerd.

PS (and actually on topic): In the past Revant lenses have been frowned upon because they technology they use isn't on par with OEM Oakley lenses. This has allegedly changed recently with the introduction of their Elite line, but as @kronin323 mentioned we have yet to see objective proof via a 3rd party test to validate those claims.

Correct, apparently the Elites are supposed to be prism compensated but that has yet to be backed up. When they first joined I suggested they have an independent party perform those tests. They said they'd consider it and there's been nothing since, just solicitations to try them and give subjective opinions.
