What to Look for When Buying Oakley Sunglasses?

Before we get into our top picks, it’s important to know what features to look for when buying a pair of Oakley sunglasses.

From Unobtainium grips to Prizm lenses, we’re breaking down the top Oakley features you need to know!

Frame Material

Today most Oakley frames are made of O Matter, C-5 alloy, or Titanium. All of these materials bring their own unique benefits which we’ve outlined below:

  • O Matter is a durable, flexible, lightweight plastic that is ideal for sports frames
  • C-5 alloy is the five-metal alloy Oakley primarily uses for its Wires collections
  • Titanium is a titanium metal alloy that’s strong, lightweight, and durable commonly found on metal frames

Unobtainium Grips

One of Oakley’s first patented materials, Unobtainium, is a high grip rubber typically found on ear socks, and nose pieces.

Unobtainium helps your sunglasses stay in place even when they’re wet or you’re covered in sweat!

But be careful! Not every Oakley frame features Unobtainium grips so you’ll want to keep an eye out for them when buying.

Lenses

Oakley lenses have always been at the front of innovation. And Oakley Prizm lens technology is no exception!

Oakley Prizm lenses work to provide increased color and contrast and decreased glare in various lighting conditions.

Originally designed as a sport-specific lens, Oakley now offers Prizm lenses for almost every sport and even everyday life!

Oakley also offers polarized lenses for many of its styles. If you aren’t sure if polarized lenses are right for you, check out our Polarized Lens Guide.

Frame Size

Finding the right size Oakley frame is almost as important as the sunglasses themselves!

Luckily, it doesn’t need to be hard!

Oakley offers ‘XS’, ‘Standard’, and ‘XL’ sizes on many of their most popular frames. This means you can always find the perfect fit for your head shape and size!

These sizes will be noted in the name of the frame when you’re buying – such as “Oakley Holbrook XL” or “Oakley Frogskins XS”.

Buying Oakley sunglasses doesn’t mean you need to pay expensive retail prices.

Lol, he’s quick too. He joined, wrote that comment and then left all within 1 minute. Very efficient.
Probably went off to use his 30% off coupon on the new website (that seems to be the go-to resolution of their online support without actually resolving much).

:p

Far as the article, the only two I've tried from the list has been the Savitar and Wire Tap 2.0, didn't mind the Savitar frame but was definitely not a fan of Rose Gold the way they looked thru em, and the Wire Tap 2.0 wasn't bad but seems after 3 copies that nylon wire was either already stressed or getting stressed within a week.
