I don't know, I guess it's possible? They're the OXMParts washers so they should be pretty uniform, but anything's possible. I don't have the regular washers, though. They were pretty heavily worn and I tossed them. I could always order the thinner washers, I guess. Where do you get your...
I doubt it, I put a toothpick clear through the orbital hinge and washers to make sure everything was aligned correctly, and I worked in a clean space with nothing loose around. I feel like the toothpick several times over would have gotten any foreign body out, but also, the OEM screw was tight...
I've tried 3 different screws now and I have the exact same issue with all three. They're just slipping into the frame and not grabbing anything, so it can't be three screws 2 of which are brand new. I don't have any photos of the orbital or the screw though. I don't want to take it apart again...
I just tried that and confirmed that it's the threads in the frame. I wrapped needle nose pliers in electrical tape so I could use them to force the hinge closer together without damaging the frame and had someone hold them while I put a new screw in and it's the same thing. I even wrapped the...
Man, it would be great if someone can. I don't have the tools nor the skillset to deal with it if it's something more than just finding a way to wedge the hinge closer together. I'll try the ol' Teflon-tape-around-the-screw trick later today and maybe that'll work. If not, I've gotta find...
Thanks! Seen them four times, photographed them live trice back in the day when I was still in the entertainment photography business. One of which was with Flogging Molly, what a great show that was. Anway, I'll probably send them to Chris at OXMParts to see what's going on. He can't re-tap...
Yeah, I can't do anything that requires any kind of precision. I don't have the patience or steady enough hands for it. I just want to wear my glasses, it really shouldn't be difficult. A longer screw would solve my problem
I'm almost certain the screw did strip out. The head on my OEM screw was already no good, but it was tight. The replacement screw is just going in without me having to turn it, it's just not grabbing anything at all, but it's also not going in all the way. Like I'll start to tighten it and it'll...
I've already opened up the hinge, though, per the instructions on OXMParts. I'm not sure the OEM washers would help at this point, I think I'd probably need a longer screw
Hey, I bought a pair of X-Squareds off a member year a few years back and it was time to replace the wear-and-tear parts. Bought new orbital gaskets and temple washers from Chris at OXMParts along with new orbital and hinge screws. Long story short, after wrestling the new tight-fit temple...
Thanks! I actually dug through the forum a bit and found the guy who is selling improved flex couplers that he designed himself, and the reviews seem to be great based on feedback on that thread. I just bought those and hopefully I'll be able to wear my shiny expensive shades again in a few days.
