Has anyone successfully 3D scanned and 3D printed replacement frames and stems for the "New Frogskins"? The original was made using the extremely poor quality material that would crack. The New Frogskin is probably my favorite looking frame and I really want replacement frames for the lenses...
I don't think they sell the old New Frogskin anymore, and a used pair would be just as brittle as my original pair. The polarized Pit Bull is my main pair, but the New Frogskin looks and fits nicely. Seems like a waste since the lenses are still good. I just found this InstaMorph moldable...
I have a broken New Frogskin (from many years ago) and broken polarized Straight Jacket. The New Frogskin looks really nice, but the frame at the hinge and the stem cracked. Has anyone ever wanted to fix their Oakleys by 3D scanning the frame and stems then 3D printing replacement parts out of...
I had a cap on, so couldn't wear my Frogskins on top of my head indoors like usual, so I hung it on my t-shirt. When I took it out, one stem came off and I saw the hinge screw was missing. I retraced my steps and couldn't find it. It could have gotten stuck in someone's shoe. Is there a...
It's best to go to the Oakley store and ask an employee who's been there for a while. The website makes it sound like the frame and stem curvature are different, but for Pit Bull, the employee said it's just a nose piece that sticks out more.
When I used to drive towards the sun to go to work and drive towards the sun to go home, the glare was so overwhelming you couldn't see what was in front of you. The polarized lenses made a huge difference. This one street I would use in the morning often was in the news because people crossing...
Is the modern day Large Soft Vault bigger than the one from maybe 10 yrs ago? I need one for the Pit Bull and the website says Large Soft Vault will fit Pit Bull, but at the store, the size looked the same as the old one, and the old one is too small for Pit Bull.
When I checked out the sunglass store near work, I was shown the Oakley catalog, and it had some sort of measurement in mm for each model that may have been individual lens width. I'd suggest asking to see the catalog where I suspect some specs are available there but not on the website. I...
I wanted to fix my broken New Frogskin. I looked into trying to make a mold of the stem and trying to find some plastic to mold my own replacement stems. Later I saw that people can do a 3D scan and print plastic parts via 3D printer. From what I've read, people can print plastic parts using ABS...
Favorite: Pit Bull New Frogskin (wish I could get the frames replaced via modern day o-matter, if I can find my broken frame pair) Romeo (from Mission Impossible movie) Least: the weird one that looks like wearing a bra on your head that clamps on the top.
I also have a wide head, and ended up buying Pit Bull after trying on a bunch including ones that were wide enough, but didn't quite fit my face right: Ten, Eyepatch 2. The good thing about Pit Bull is the big lenses blocking out the sun. This stuff is not cheap, so it's best to go to the...
If it's your first pair, I'd suggest going to the Oakley store and trying on a bunch of diff models to see if they fit your head and face comfortably without feeling like they are too tight and likely to break, especially the hinges. That was my big mistake when I bought the first polarized...
I would only buy polarized and not mess with swapping the lenses later. If you drive, polarized makes a huge difference between only seeing glare vs. seeing what's in front of you, especially when driving towards the sun.
