Howzit Keith. Did you have a set of Oakley grips since you were into BMX? Grips were my first Oakleys. What part of the state do you live? I'm from Oahu. Haven't been on the boards much in the last few years. Uluahunter and I were the only Hawaii guys on the board a few years ago.

I wouldn't polish them. My experience with the polishes I use is they all contain some kind of abrasive and will scratch the lens. Just do the alcohol soak until all coating is removed(might have to soak it more than once) and clean with mild soap and water and that's all I would do.

Is Oakley now making stuff in China? Was looking at the ebay link and zoomed up on the right arm and it says China.

No the alcohol process will take everything off including the color. It will turn to the base color of the lens. Iridium and all coatings will be gone. The Why 8.X series lenses have same curvature as a Gascan lens. I compared my old Gascan lenses to my Why 8.1's. Dr. Chop could make new ones...
