This seems serendipitous, I followed the link, viewed other items for sale for the heck of it and viola, he has some Mars frames, no lense. I happen to have recently acquired some Mars lenses and fresh rubbers from someone but I don't have any frames (long story, don't ask LoL)....for $212 shipped I could pop these lenses in and throw the rubbers on there and bam, very unique x metal dailies for <300 bucks. Going to give this some serious consideration. My question to any of you with experience is how hard is it to install Mars lenses? I searched the topic before I made this post but had no luck.

Should be fairly easy but Q should be able to answer that for sure.

Installing is no big deal. Taking them out however, you break the c clip pretty much 100% of the time. I broke both on the crater I just took apart to have wrapped

did you manage to find replacement clips? i had no luck so far. i left one lens in when working on it and the other side snapped by itself.

btw as a daily beater - go a sport frame man. when you start sweating they wont try to slide around and its alot less capital up front, especially if its under risk of damage. save the Mars/Romeo/Juliet for casual wear..

Xmetals are basically the original "Elite" line. Im not trying to be an elitist, but dont bother with metals (at least, not for a beater pair) if you are looking on a budget. Yes yes, deals can be had, but in general its just not the right tool for the application.

Want something unique to rock daily and not worry about scuffs too much? Get something like a Valve, Scar, Splice... now those come in beaters (rough-ish frames), can be had for cheap, and lenses can be cut for if you need replacements.

@BriP

I feel you bro, I have some Juliet's and Penny's at the moment, I remember when the x metal line was introduced...in retrospect it does sound a bit ridiculous to try to acquire a pair for such a purpose, but that's kind of the point, it's a purpose beyond reason.

Either way, you're 100% correct, the sport frames are the most practical and well suited for the stuff I do on a day to day basis. I have had the best experience with my Flak Jackets, the second go to work pair is some polished black Straight Jackets (which I LOVE).. I was just thinking at the time of making this thread, wouldn't it be cool to find someone with a roughed up pair of metals I could buy/trade for and rock them "worry free" while I frame up walls or fix a roof..lol. I'm on board with what you're saying though, maybe I just need to pick up a new pair of O-matter frames to switch things up. The good thing about this thread though is that it lead to some discussion which prompted me to buy my first pair of Mars frames today. I think I will close the thread by tomorrow if nothing further surfaces. Big thanks to all who offered input and suggestions, especially qtrain23 and atrain who put me onto the Mars on the bay.

I bought a pair from that seller. Carefully packed, shipped right away. Nice, easy transaction.

Thats the exact same seller that I ordered my Mars frames from...looks like the guy is a Mars specialist or something lol. Thanks for the post because now I know he's legit and ships safely as well.

Edit:

I'm going to put the old lenses I already have in the Mars frame and probably just make them a pair of dailies for a while. I guess that more or less resolves the thread. I am still looking for another pair of metals, either x metal or titanium finish. Penny's are my faves but I'm open to any and all. Can some forum elders advise as to whether I should close the thread and start a new more specific "WTB" thread since the scenario has evolved somewhat?
Thanks!

you can just change the title in the first post (under advanced options) and keep this thread going. the mars is awesome.. did you get the crater or regular?

for you maybe look for a romeo1 next.. other wise titanium wise you can try to find a gen1 titanium juliet (not plasma, quite rare, T serial), or a penny with VR28 black irid lenses would be a cool addition.

Brip, I just make my own clips from some wire. That way I can take them apart next time easier. Pics if you want

And glad I could help

Thanks for the guidance on how to edit the thread. Man you are ON POINT with where I'd like to go next, it's like you read my mind or something hahah...but yeah, the titanium Juliet would be a great find, I'll keep my eyes open and be ready to pounce. The titanium Penny's I have have the ice blue lenses but they're not OEM, I think they're Walleva maybe, I would LOVE to find some with the VR28's in there and in decent condition. Penny's are my absolute favorite simply because they feel like they were made for my face, something about the spring hinges I guess.

I got the regular Mars for this addition, but after seeing qtrain23's thread on the customizing he can do...I may need to save for some Craters down the road as well.

I think after getting a feel for the Romeo market a bit better the last few days that I'll wait on them, maybe make them the "pot of gold at the end of the rainbow" as far as my x metals go, at least for now. Perhaps if business does well this first quarter I'll treat myself when springtime rolls back around.

Hopefully working out a deal with a fellow member for some "basically new" x squared sometime in the next 24 hours...that should be a fun pair to add. I think I'll get some significant use out of them. I'm starting to like the squarer frames a little more lately. My wife bought me some Jupiter Factory Lights brushed aluminum for Christmas and they also look and feel good. I will start a collection thread and post some pics!

Thanks for all the input BriP, I'm loving this forum, very fun to see the creativity and customization as well as amazing collections. I don't know exactly how I stumbled upon it here, but very glad I did.
