A-Wire long ear socks interchangeable with short?

In my quest to get a new pair of polarised A-Wires, after mine have mysteriously gone missing. I have manged to locate some carbon frames off ebay, but they have the long ear socks.

Does anyone know if the long ear socks are interchangeable with the short ones?

The first gen. ear stems are a different bend, and cross section than later ones, and haven’t got the ridge to “stop” the short sock.
That said, the short earsocks should “work”, but they won’t look right.
