Absolutely livid at how my Holbrooks are holding up.

Just sad how these have held up. I’ve been very gentle with them and the frame is peeling where it touches my skin. I’ve had them for two years and have worn them 2-3 days a week roughly since then. I’ve always worn matte black because historically Oakley hasn’t painted these frames and I’ve worn some for as many 5 years. These have never been dropped or mishandled. I’ve kept the original warm grey lenses for backups but by the time the lenses are needed the frames will be looking so bad they’ll need to be retired or refinished. They look fine while being worn but it’s sad to see so much wear from basic daily use. In comparison I’ve dropped my Randolph Engineering Aviators countless times but other than a couple dings in the frame and one small scratch on the lens they are really no worse for wear at 6 years old.

Other than that they look great but it’s just disappointing to see matte black is now a painted finish.

Welcome to lux and the forums

Thanks yeah welcome to Luxottica for sure. I love the style of these but the quality just isn’t there. My old M Frames are solid but this’ll definitely be my last new pair I buy.
I’m in the same boat, only pairs I’ve really bought besides a few here and there are from the bay and this forum.

I’m thinking I might offload them cheap here just to be done with them, both lenses case and all and buy a second pair of Randolph’s. I’ve never been so disappointed in a brand I loved so much.

I’ve had matte frames and they all do that. It’s your sweat and grease that brakes down the paint in high contact areas.

I’ve bought frames in 2004 that did that... with that evidence... they’ve been doing it ‘that way’ for at least 15 years.

Weird my M Frames have never done it.

First off stop comparing them to the R/E Aviators. Those are metal frames, most likely aluminum from what I remember and these are plastic.

Secondly you have worn them for 2 years, 2-3 times a week in unknown conditions and you are complaining they show wear?

I take really good care of the pairs I wear but to expect them to look like 2 after they have been worn aprox 3-400 times? I get it, the new Oakley isnt like the old Oakley. Go find you an older frame and put your lenses in it and be done. Problem solved.
