im no customiser but would either of the the two plastic bag methods produce suitable results?

old old car customiser tricks….
and i have no airbrush / frame painting knowledge so could be talking out me orse 😁
you have a dark grey frame…

one way to try is scrunch a plastic bag up,, spray the crinkled bag blue and lightly place on frame / remove .Could create the effect, ( as not a car , may have to scale down to grease paper like you line a baking tin with to get smaller crinkles)

or just spray the creased paper in your hand and dap the frame Lightly.

tinfoil maybe would work well.

Gotcha. I do something like that with the distressed finishes. I alot call it marbleizing. It has a bit different look tho.

Like this more or less. Then you can do a candy over to change the color.

Nice, every piece is like a one off then. you could probably perfect the planet x finish if there was enough call for it or get very close.

It doesn't work the best on smaller things like glasses. It's a multiple layer process, and being the glasses are smaller the pattern needs to shrink to still give the same look. The process leaves a texture so to look good need to bury it in clear. That mixed with the multiple layers you'll end up with a decent paint thickness. Which can then chip more easily and lens swapping will risk chipping the lens.
