I'm really trying to figure out what's the best approach to get prescription sunglasses. I went to my optometrist today and the Ray Band frame that I picked was 210 and they glasses itself (which wasn't made by Ray band) would have cost 380. Is it suppose to cost that much?

Prescriptions can get very expensive so yes.....it can cost that much and actually can go to twice that easily depending on what you get.

The lens depends on a lot of factors such as:
- Lens type (Single vision, Bi-focals, Tri-focals, Progressive)
- Lens material (CR-39, Polycarbonate, Trivex, Hi-Index 1.6, Hi-Index 1.67, Hi-Index 1.74)
- Anti-reflective (AR) or anti-glare coating (Cost varies anywhere from probably $20 as high as $150+)
- Whether the optician/optometrist charges individually for options like anti-scratch coating, UV coating (only needed for CR-39), tinting, etc.
