I think the FMJ finish has always been a problem for Oakley. I also think that's why they pulled this pair off the shelf so fast.
The chrome paint process was tough. Required multiple paint processes, basically 3-4 coats of paint. The scrap rate would be about 50%. Lux killed that. Or so I hear.
