Lens Cutting
Don't know what lenses can be donors for your Oakleys? Go here and here.

Why Custom Cut Lenses?
- Because Oakley no longer produces or sells factory original lenses for many older models.
- Oakley lenses are very very very fragile. As good as they are, they peel and degrade quite easily. Apparently even having a heart beat can cause stress fractures according to @tomtrucker. True Story!!!
- Most Oakley collectors prefer to have genuine Oakley lenses rather than purchase cheap and widely available third party aftermarket lenses.
- Currently produced oversize Oakley lenses can be cut to the right size. That's why Big Taco or Flak 2.0 XL lenses are so popular. See below for links to what works with what!
- It means one can utilise newer technology e.g. different colour-ways and Prizm lenses that weren't originally produced for older frames.
- Don't know what Prizm lens you want/need? Then check out @MicahS's fabulous comparative video right here!!

Want aftermarket lenses? Shame on you!!! In the immortal words of @Lexkempo "Go OEM or go home!!!"... but if you insist, check reviews here or here or info about Linegear's Lenses. Special mention - Check out @Ventruck 's brilliant in depth (but limited) reviews here.

Unsure what "donor" lens you need for your Oakleys? Check here for a 2014 table and search here for the latest compatibility. P.S. "Donor" lens = lens that is big enough to be cut down to a size suitable for the frame you're wanting new lenses for.

Why Customise Anyhow?
(I put this "introduction" below, because most people won't really care, and they just want immediate access to the useful information!!).

There's lots of great reasons why someone would want to customise their Oakleys. For some, it's a purely practical reason. For others, it's for aesthetic reasons.

Oakley was founded in 1975 by Jim Jannard, and first produced it's iconic eyeshades in 1984. A lot of their sunglasses have been discontinued since then, making replacement parts difficult to come by, especially lenses.

Lens cutting continues to thrive because it enables Oakley enthusiasts to not only continue using their frames once the original lenses get scratched or delaminate, but it also allows enthusiasts to cheaply be able to "upgrade" their lenses to OEM newer technology such as Prizm or other colours in the Oakley range that may not have been released for their frames initially.

Customising or refurbishing services breath new life into damaged or life-wearied frames.

Customising gives you something really unique. See this post as to why you're actually getting a GREAT deal when one of the above Artists customise your sunglasses!

Besides, what do you do when you've collected the entire range of Slivers, Frogskins, Jawbones or X-metals? Put another way, "What do you give the person who has everything?".

Answer : Customise! So you can have one-offs you can truly say are unique!

Thanks to the following members for tips!:-
@Lupetto, @Sun & Sand, @X-Metal Beast, @Oak Heel, @dingo ate my baby, @GH4AU and @SoulFulFrog.
