Cigars

weekend with C'est la vie Dominican stick outside of town

I use a Xikar Xi1 guillotine cutter that I've had for about 13 years. The cutter still chops those cigar ends like it did the first day I got it. It's hard to beat a Xikar cutter!

OK, I dug out the humis and smokes last night and took a bunch of pics. They're quick-and-dirty, but even if I had spent more time setting them up, I'm not much of a photographer anyway. I haven't taken any pics yet of cutters, lighters, and travel cases.

To keep from overloading with too many pictures at once, I'll trickle the stuff out.

Here's my four humidors:

I know you're supposed to use a humidor instead of something sealed (i.e. tupperware) because a little bit of air circulation is needed to vent some of the stuff released by cigars as they age, and the Spanish cedar in humidors helps improve them. But it takes a lot of work to maintain the proper humidity and temperature. It's easier with today's silica gels but it still takes a lot of work. I've found, for long-term storage, using a sealed plastic container will work just as well and is much easier to maintain. So, there's a lot of empty space in those humidors and the bulk of my current collection is in this thing:

This one was not my first humidor but the first of my current set; it's supposed to hold 100 but I've found they tend to overstate capacity, like it's based on petite coronas or something. I love the different burlwood inlays. It currently has 30 sticks in it.

Going out of order, this is my last one and the only one I didn't buy myself - it was my dad's and he dumped it on me when he quit. It's mostly empty, currently holds 26 Fuente robustos:
