I think what he's trying to say is if the regular X Metal frame finishes (plasma, carbon, etc.) can be cleared and cured to protect the finish from sweat and the elements, thus protecting the finish from fading

I'm sure it can be done to extend the finish.....I believe the frames Oakley did seem to do well without anything. Unless we are talking extreme conditions like salt water and such. I would figure to think that ANY finish would eventually break down under harsh environment.
