Forget those fluorescent tubes and messing around with the ballast. Just wire it up for 12v (or get an adapter kit at Home Depot) and run a strip of LED’s up each side at the front corners. Better, brighter light, and you can get a nifty remote and change the color if you want. Plus it lights everything equally from the front as opposed to the top and bottom.

you can also just skip the ballast and use Ballast bypass LED tubes instead of the CFLs. You can google the wiring for those pretty easily.
