The guy who owned/ran Lux was no dummy. He knew how good Oakleys were and how popular they were. He knew he could make a fortune turning a premium product into a disposable one (by making it cheaper) with a recurring revenue from a culture that now looks at everything as disposable.Because like everything else, why risk innovation when you can sit and pad your pockets on the misinformed masses that eat spoon fed processed foods, listen to everything they watch/read and can’t develop an informed opinion if it was required of them.
I have no proof other than the fact that the newer Fives squared frames are different in weight than the original Fives squared. There isn't a drastic enough frame style difference that would warrant the weight change so the only thing I can deduce is the material changed. Which I'm sure they have done throughout the OMatter product line on anything new coming out.
