I felt it was just set chronologically - the genesis of the original Monster had nothing to do with VW, so they weren't mentioned until after the author had worked through that.Yeah, they pretty much buried that fact. They could have mentioned that the acquisition was pretty much Ferdinand Pietch's birthday present to himself if the brand VW were currently fashionable. Remember that I own a (gas) Phaeton and an R32 so I am far from a hater.
