I think you're right Jono.
Back in the day the Ducati series weren't attached to a particular rider etc as a signature model.
I've got the Hijinx, MD, Oil Drum. And had the Zero in the past. None of these were anything other than Ducati versions of that particular frame.

So if the question is "Who were they designed for?", the answer is basically . . . "Us."
