I was wondering- how come we can't post direct eBay links to stuff? Only the item number?

Has it got something to do with trackbacks or something?

If I am not wrong, it is to prevent a bid war amongst forum members.

But you are allowed to post links if the item is yours.

I'm sure there's another reason apart from the bidding war seeing as you can post item numbers...

That what I was just thinking. I've always thought it was a weird rule if that was the only reason because posting the item number is essentially the same as posting the link, just less convenient.

I've wondered this as well - doesn't really make much sense, at least not to me. Oh well.

I'm afraid to say it is as sunpoh says, to stop bidding wars, it's that simple. There is debate about whether the rule should remain or not going on in the background so things may change, we'll have to see.
