Following the poll and discussion thread, it appears the community has spoken (Should replica items be allowed in the Exchanges?). Therefore the exchange rules have been updated per the below:

"3) Replica items are not allowed. To be clear Replica items refer to non-Oakley created items which contain the Oakley logo. Modified/Custom/DIY Oakley pairs (e.g those that are modified original pairs, or custom designs that do not include the Oakley logo) are allowed and should be labeled clearly.".

This rule will be implemented on a go-forward basis so that any in-progress deals are not disturbed. However effective immediately new threads selling Replica items are not permitted. If you see new threads that meet this criteria please use the "report" button to alert the Mod team.

Thanks all!

Whoa! So If I paint or cerakote a pair, it cant be sold? What about a refinish?

Not at all. See this bit: "Modified/Custom/DIY Oakley pairs (e.g those that are modified original pairs, or custom designs that do not include the Oakley logo) are allowed and should be labeled clearly." Which these pairs woudl qualify as.

But if you say create a new pair of sunglasses "inspired by the Juliet" with the O logo, that is not allowed. Or 3D print a new Bob head with the O logo, that is not allowed. If it does not contain the O Logo and is clearly labeled as a Non-Oakley piece that is fine.

Really this rule just focuses on items which truthfully qualify as copyright infringement. (E.g Using the O logo and profiting off of it.)

So retaining the o icon on a painted pair of, say pitbulls, throwing on fuse lenses and linegear socks?
What about cyclops blinders?

All good - the point is that the Oakley logo on the product was put there by Oakley who owns that trademark. You as the owner are allowed to modify it as you see fit. And Fuse/Linegear and the like all are no issues - those are producers but none of them use the Oakley logo nor do they purport to be Oakley products.

If you 3D print your own Pitbulls with the O logo and try to sell them, then you are profiting off of Oakley's property/trademarks/copyrights. This is illegal, and now it is against forum rules.
