I was gonna mention that Dann did something similar to a Mars.

Sweet looking pair, the Mars looks killer in black.

YUp YUp had a leather shop cut some black Suede and had them stitch the frame.

The Old Leather I had was old and stinky on this one.

So I decided rather than have a frame that looked kinda nasty. that it Would look kinda cool in Black !

As for me I love a Ruby Lens Set!!

Of Course Emerald would look kinda cool Too !!

Looks cool! I'm sure you did that to a regular pair and not a leather-wrapped... I've thought about trying this if I picked up a pair.

I'm sure you could get a material with a denim print and some texture that would be easier to work with.

Is it mostly glued on, or what? I can't imagine the stitches keep the material on the temples very well.

Those denim Mars are really cool! I have often wondered if anybody ever swapped out leather for an alternate material....that question has just been answered.

this was my crater.. not a leather mars

the stitches have to be pretty tight, an does a decent job of holding most of it together- leather mars uses "shoe glue" (the brown stuff) to adhere the rest. here i substituted with some blue tac. not as good, but easily removable.

also, that c clip snapped while it was sitting on the shelf overnight. i just stitched the orbital together with thread, im gonna head to a hardware store to find a replacement now. new c-clips just push onto the stub, not too complicated

btw this is a real pain in the arse to do.
would i do it again? probably not unless someone was paying me haha.
