anything I need to know to change the battery in this thing?

Yeah I've handled one but don't own one, don't remember what the caseback looks like. But it should be a straightforward battery swap, just need to see the caseback to suggest which tools are needed to remove it. Pic?
 
That's an odd looking tool. But thanks at least I know the back screws off

It's a wrench; you put the correct bit shapes in (square, in this case), adjust the bit spacing to match the diameter of your watch (really you adjust it in place so it kinda clamps on), then twist. Press down on it to help prevent it torqueing out. It's the standard tool for that sort of thing, but others have made non-adjustable keys to serve the same purpose for specific watches.

One more note on this - in order to properly access the caseback when using the wrench, you'll need to open up the band so it's not in the way. This most likely means removing (then later replacing) a pin on one of the links, if you're not already equipped for that.
