Is my prescription too high for Oakley sunglasses?

I'm wondering if someone can help me. I went to an Oakley Vault store on Friday, trying to order a pair of prescription progressive sunglasses, and the girl who handles the prescriptions wasn't able to put it through. The first frame she tried was the Flak 2.0, then she tried the Holbrook, but neither would go through the system. She said it kept coming up saying it was possible, but would require unobtainium (?), but she didn't see the option. I'm now wondering if my prescription is too high. Are my hopes and dreams of a pair of prescription Oakley sunglasses over? My current prescription is attached.

That RX is way too strong for Oakley. I believe it goes up to -6.00

You really should consider contacts for Sunnier days, and wear the flak 2.0 xl over the top.

Or check into LASIK. :) otherwise you'll be stuck w flat frames. Like standard optical styles, not sun styles.

that’s what I do, wear contacts most days so I can rock my Oakleys, every now and then I’ll wear my glasses to give my eyes a rest

Thanks for responding! I'm so disappointed ☹

I actually wore contacts for 12 years, and Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ' s & Bottlecap's, but had a severe neurotrophic corneal ulcer infection just over a year ago. The corneal specialist doesn't recommend that I ever wear contact lenses again, so I guess I'm just out of luck until I get lasik.

That makes sense. So sorry to hear about that. Since you've seen a specialist I would certainly consult with them before signing up for lasik too. I know it's a bummer. But you might like something more casual like a Ray ban 2132 55mm new wayfarer. Good for RX.

Thanks for the suggestion of the Ray Ban Wayfarer, I'll check it out! They won't be polarized black iridium lenses, but at least it's something 🙂

They have polarized silver mirror! Which is similar to black iridium! They also have a cool black w crystal; or gunmetal frame colors now.

What you might do is look at some of Oakley ‘s opthalmic frames instead of their sunglass line . Some of their eyeglass frames have a more sportier aesthetic compared to run of the mill frames ..

With the strength of your prescription you’ll want to try and stay with smaller frames also . The larger the eyesize (diameterof lens ) the thicker the lens will be

Great advice... maybe a frame like the trajectory in the smaller size?
