More than you can imagine....

63 different sunglasses released with the name jacket in it.

4 pairs of shoes.

2 hats.

And a really bad ass watch

Oakleys are jackets for your eyeballs.

Also think it may have something to do with "full metal jacket" which is a common vintage colorway

Jacket was a style/family/base (like cars)/category type of frame. I’m guessing because it has sport like wrap (or jacket wrap) and rubbers.

Other examples are: x metals, frog skins, life style, active ect.

It just seems to flow nicely too. Split Jacket, Flak Jacket, sounds good!

Isnt it becasue Eyejackets were the first ever sunglasses that were designed using CAD to 'fit like a jacket' ..... First ever wrap around sunglasses or something somilar...

Well basically that was Oakley's Phase 3 protocol. "Jacket", and it kinda stretched to the point that it became a "throwback" before they were able to shift to their "Underwear" Phase 4 protocol. The Luxottica acquisition did get in the way as well, and supposedly the are some UW designs straight up discarded because Lux wanted to go down their own happy trail. Switchlock was never planned at the time, but instead a compression/elastic feature. Kinda like how Jackets would wrap, UW designs would just hug but allow full range of motion.
